Araksa's Organic Garden

Welcome to Araksa. Nestled in the lush mountains of Chiang Mai, Thailand, our tea garden is home to a rich diversity of tea cultivars, including Camellia assamica, Camellia taliensis, and the traditional Chinese Camellia sinensis. Beyond tea, our organic landscape flourishes with lemongrass, ginger, peppermint, butterfly pea flowers, and tropical fruits such as avocado and banana, creating a thriving ecosystem that supports biodiversity and enriches the character of our garden.

Since 2018, our entire tea garden has been proudly certified USDA & EU Organic by CERES GmbH. Maintaining a truly organic plantation requires a holistic approach that works in harmony with nature. The following are some of the key practices we employ to nurture a healthy ecosystem, produce exceptional tea, and ensure the long-term sustainability of our garden.

  • Soil Health

Healthy soil is the foundation of exceptional organic tea. At Araksa, we enrich the soil with organic matter, maintain a balanced soil pH, improve drainage, and create natural shade to support a healthy microclimate. By nurturing the ecosystem beneath every tea plant, we encourage strong growth, distinctive flavour, and long-term sustainability for generations to come.

  • Buffer Zone

To protect the integrity of our organic tea garden, Araksa has established natural buffer zones along the estate's boundaries. A diverse mix of trees and plants acts as a living barrier, helping to filter air and water while reducing the risk of chemical drift from neighbouring farmland. These green borders also provide valuable habitats that support local biodiversity.

  • Pest Management

Rather than relying on chemical pesticides, Araksa embraces nature's own balance. We cultivate flowering plants, fruit trees, and beneficial species that attract birds and other natural predators to help control insects. This ecological approach strengthens biodiversity, protects the health of our tea garden, and supports sustainable organic farming.

Araksa's Organic Boutique Tea Factory

Our tea factory combines traditional orthodox tea-making machinery from India and Taiwan, with each piece carefully selected to craft teas of exceptional character.

As our Tea Garden Manager, Raju Subba, says, "Tea making is an art." Guided by decades of craftsmanship and refined through years of experience, every tea is thoughtfully produced to highlight its unique qualities. From elegant White Teas and vibrant Green Teas to rich Black Teas and naturally caffeine-free Herbal Teas, each cup reflects our passion for quality and authenticity.

GMP Codex & Organic Certification

Our tea factory has been certified GMP Codex by SGS since 2019 and USDA & EU Organic by CERES GmbH since 2018.

We uphold the highest standards of hygiene, food safety, and quality throughout every stage of production to ensure the purity of our teas. Each batch undergoes rigorous quality control, including moisture analysis, foreign matter inspection, and professional tea tasting, guaranteeing consistency, safety, and exceptional quality in every cup.

Araksa's Social Responsibility

Everything begins with people. We believe people are the bedrock of a sustainable community and by employing local people and empowering them with new skills, together we can do meaningful work. Our employees are a mix of individuals from the Akka Tribe, Hmong Tribe, Lisu Tribe and local Thais.

Buying Locally

At Araksa, we are deeply committed to sourcing locally whenever possible, supporting both the local economy and the preservation of Thai culture. The sugar cane rice crackers served at our Tea House are handmade by a local artisan using rice harvested from her own fields.

By choosing locally crafted products, we create sustainable income opportunities for our community while helping preserve the traditions and craftsmanship that make Northern Thailand so unique.

Local Employment

At Araksa, we are committed to creating meaningful employment opportunities within our local community. In many rural areas, limited job opportunities often force people to leave their families in search of work elsewhere. By investing in local talent and providing stable, long-term employment, we help families stay together while preserving valuable skills within the community. We believe that a thriving local workforce is the foundation of a sustainable business, strengthening both the people who make our tea and the local economy that supports them.
